PROVINCETOWN — Local and state police are investigating what Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe is calling a “suspicious death” discovered early Sunday morning in Provincetown. The body was discovered early Sunday morning when a Provincetown patrol officer stopped to investigate what appeared to be damage at the damage to the office at the Coastal Acres Campground. Provincetown Fire and Rescue took one person from the scene to Cape Cod Hospital but no further information is available. O’Keefe declined to identify anyone involved in the incident. He said the dead person had been identified but he was not releasing the name to the public at this time. O’Keefe said investigators were still on the scene Sunday afternoon. “The police are right in the middle of the investigation it just wouldn’t be appropriate to give further information,” he said. According to emergency broadcast reports Sunday morning, one person was pronounced dead at the scene near a campsite at the campground . Yellow crime scene tape cornered off a portion of the campground including a trailer and parking lot. A police officer at the entrance of the campground turned around visitors to the campground, which opened on April 1st. capecodonline.com
